Oliver Rowling, Moana Orchard Co.
Oliver Rowling is the product of four
generations of fruit growers, a tradition that began in
1920. The Rowling family farms 123 acres in Nelson, New
Zealand - the birthplace of Jazz apples. They also
grow Royal
Gala, Braeburn,
Fuji,
Granny
Smith, Cox
Orange, Pink
Lady®, and Southern
Rose apples, and Taylor's
Gold pears. All of the orchard's fruit is packed in
the family's pack house, which is run by Oliver's father

to ENZA
and is sold by The
Oppenheimer Group in North America. Moana Orchard Co.

Bob Brammer, Crane & Crane Inc.
Crane & Crane Inc. is the largest
grower of ENZA
apples in Washington state. The orchard grows in the hills
overlooking the Columbia River in the small town of Brewster.
The pack house, on-site cool store and business offices
are visible in the valley below. Among the thousands of
acres of apples at Crane & Crane are 85 acres of the
club varieties, Jazz and Pacific
Rose. The orchard also grows HoneyCrisp®
and traditional varieties, like Jonathan and Rome, for niche
markets. Originally from Montana, Bob Brammer worked his
way up through the corporation and now serves as its president.
He's married to Karin Crane, a fourth generation daughter.
Bob says that he believes in the Jazz variety because
it gives people a good eating experience, and it holds up
well through the distribution system.

Smith & Nelson, Inc. with offices in Tonasket, WA in
the northern part of the state's Okanogan Valley. His grandfather
founded the family homestead in the early 1900s. Scott now

Mark Gores, Gores Orchard, Inc.
Lake Chelan is a crystalline expanse
of blue in central Washington state and a popular tourist
destination. Mark Gores grew up in the area and admits that
it is a glorious place to live and work. His home and more
than 60 acres of orchards sit perched on a hill above the
lake. Gores Orchard Inc. is a small family-run operation
that Mark purchased from his father. Mark joined the ENZA
grower cooperative in 2001 when he planted his first Pacific
Rose apples. He has since planted Jazz™ and also
has grafted Jazz onto high-density Fuji
and Gala
rootstocks. Soon, most of his lands will be planted in the
ENZA varieties. Mark says that it's difficult to choose
profitable plantings, but he believes Jazz and Pacific
Rose have a bright future.
