ENZA CONGRATULATES JAZZ™ APPLE CYCLIST
ON FOURTH IN THE WORLD OLYMPIC STATUS
August 18, 2008
Supporter of the JAZZ™ Apple Cycling Team, ENZA, congratulates team member Alison Shanks on achieving fourth place in the women’s 3,000m individual pursuit race at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
With eyes set on the bronze medal Aug. 17, Dunedin’s Alison Shanks finished 2.74 seconds behind eventual bronze medalist, Ukraine’s Lesya Kalitovska, at the Laoshan Velodrome in Beijing.
Shanks, age 25, was a key member of the JAZZ™ Apple Cycling Team in the early part of its three month campaign across the U.S. and Canada May through August. She left the team early to complete her Olympic preparations.
“Ali played a key role in the early season success of the JAZZ™ Apple Cycling Team this year and was an outstanding ambassador for JAZZ™ apples during her time in the States,” said ENZA International’s Campbell Naish.
“She is a world class athlete who embodies the JAZZ™ apple attitude, and we congratulate her on her spirited challenge for the bronze medal.”
In addition to racing and training, Alison and JAZZ™ Apple Cycling Team members made public appearances during their U.S. tour to promote the health benefits of enjoying JAZZ™ apples, in conjunction with ENZA’s North American marketing partner, The Oppenheimer Group.
JAZZ™ apples, a cross between Royal Gala and Braeburn developed in New Zealand, are taking apple markets by storm in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia.
