ENZA
INTRODUCES THE PURE APPLE GROOVE OF JAZZ
August 2005
Want
to make your taste buds get up and dance? Shimmy on over to your
favorite store, and try the new Jazz apple from ENZA.
This effervescent apple is a funky fusion of tangy sweetness.
Fresh from New Zealand, Jazz apples are making a limited
appearance this summer and will return again in the fall when
Washington state production adds volume.
When apple growers married the sweet, crisp
Royal Gala to the bold, snappy Braeburn, they named their offspring
"Jazz," for the notes of sweetness and deeper,
tangy undertones it inherited. Jazz has been introduced
globally in very small amounts over the last few years, but is
more readily available for the first time in 2005.
"As people get hip to Jazz, they
can't get enough," said David
Nelley, pipfruit category director for The
Oppenheimer Group, based in Vancouver, B.C. "The apple
has been tasted by experts around the world, and the response
has been pretty overwhelming."
In the summertime, there is no fresher apple
available than the Jazz, because it is grown in New Zealand,
where seasons mirror ours. June and July means autumn - apple
harvest time - in the country that has long set the tempo for
introducing new apple varieties.
Growers in the state of Washington
have joined their New Zealand brethren in the production of Jazz
apples. As a result, year-round supplies of Jazz will be
available in the coming years. All Jazz apples bear the
ENZA label, the symbol of an established New Zealand pipfruit
brand.
So bite right in. The pure apple groove of
Jazz might just be the high note of your summer.
