NEW JAZZ APPLE IS MUSIC TO YOUR
EARS — AND TASTE BUDS
June 14, 2007
The age-old adage of ‘an apple a day’
has taken on a new tempo, one that has people across the globe
singing a different, more upbeat, tune.
In its short career, the distinctive taste of ENZA
JAZZ™ has garnered a standing ovation from international
audiences — and this summer, the talented newcomer will
be readily available across North America for the first time.
Developed using natural methods in New Zealand, the fusion of
tart Braeburn and sweet Royal Gala varieties has been released
only in limited amounts worldwide, gaining a cult following of
loyal fans. Why? JAZZ™’s refreshingly crisp texture, firm
dense flesh, and smooth undertones of mellow sweetness are perfectly
suited for the sophisticated — and fickle — palate
of the modern consumer.
“People are looking for something different
from the old standards of Red and Golden Delicious,” said
Marc Soper, New Zealand’s ‘Chef of the Nation’
in 2005. “JAZZ™ is bringing life back to the apple’s
tune, as it is a modernized version of a classic that’s
ripe for reinvention. JAZZ™ is the ‘apple a day’ for
today.”
In addition to its novel taste, JAZZ™ sets new standards
for quality and freshness. “North America’s spring
is New Zealand’s autumn, so just-harvested N.Z. apples are
fresh in the marketplace during the summer months,” said
David Nelley, pipfruit category director at The Oppenheimer Group,
the exclusive supplier of JAZZ™ in North America. “JAZZ™ answers
the need for a new flavor in fresh fruit.” After the New
Zealand season ends in August, those hooked on JAZZ™’s beat
will get their encore — Washington JAZZ™ take the stage November
through May.
The health benefits of apples have long been touted
by doctors and mothers alike, and for good reason. Recent studies
have called attention to the apple’s role in preventing
cardiovascular disease, the number one killer of adults in the
U.S. Suddenly, the fruit’s daily importance has been re-illuminated,
and JAZZ™ is enthusiastically taking that spotlight.
“JAZZ™ turns ‘an apple a day’
into an enjoyable experience people will look forward to, and
more likely incorporate into their daily routine,” said
Soper. “It really is an apple a day for today; a harmony
of modern taste melded with the classic health benefits apples
are famous for. One bite, and you’ll be hooked on JAZZ™’s
melody.”
