JAZZ™ APPLES TO SPONSOR
NEW ZEALAND WOMEN'S CYCLING TEAM
08 May 2006
ENZA
Jazz Apples are the official title sponsor of the 2006 New
Zealand Women's Development Cycling campaign to North America.
The team, comprising a combination of BikeNZ's elite and developing
riders, will embark on a two-month road racing campaign throughout
the U.S. and Canada late May through July.
The 'Jazz Apple
Cycling Team' includes Olympians Sarah Ulmer and Michelle
Hyland who bring experience and tutelage to the developing
elite riders Brei Gudsell, Lauren Koedyk and Serena Sheridan.
Commonwealth Games
silver medalist Rosara Joseph, as well as Carissa Wilkes,
will also don the Jazz Apple team jerseys, competing
with the team as an integral component of their preparations
for the World Mountain Bike Championships in Rotorua, New
Zealand in August.
"The Jazz Apple sponsorship may have created
one of the greatest opportunities for New Zealand Women's
cycling," commented team director, Susy Pryde. "Not
only will it will be a privilege to be the flagship for
such a product that inspires good health and active lifestyles,
but we also have a competitive and inspired bevy of riders
and management committed to the campaign."
The North America-based
sponsor are very pleased to be associated with the energetic,
youthful and healthy team who will actively promote the Jazz
apple in tandem with their racing campaign.
"We're very impressed
by this group of athletes, and we hope we can help them attain
great heights in their sport this summer," said David
Nelley, the sponsor's spokesman. "The team members are
ideal ambassadors for Jazz apples as they represent excellence
in a healthy active lifestyle, just like many of the North American
consumers who enjoy ENZA Jazz."
Like the team, Jazz
apples originated in New Zealand. Grown under license to ENZA,
the tangy-sweet variety is taking international markets by storm.
A cross between the popular Royal Gala and Braeburn, Jazz
apples are among the most sought-after produce items in North
America.
