Interests Beyond Pedaling:
Family time with her husband Jason and their two daughters,
ages 3 and 5. Swimming and running. Ruth is also works as
a qualified massage therapist and has an identical twin
sister.
Career Highlights: 3rd in
stage 3 of UCI Tour of Chongming Island, 2nd in stage 3
of UCI Tour of NZ, 4th place in the Australian elite road
nationals, 2006 National Club Road Champion.

Lauren Ellis
Age: 19
Hometown: Heinz (mid Canterbury region)
Interests Beyond Pedaling:
Studying sports science at Christchurch Polytechnic Institute
of Technology. She also enjoys tennis.
Career Highlights: Silver
medal Junior World Cycling Championships Belgium - Individual
Pursuit 2006, Bronze medal Junior World Cycling championships
Mexico - Individual Pursuit 2007- 2008 National Elite Points
race champion.

Belinda Goss
Hometown: Australia
Career Highlights: Belinda kicked off a fantastic 2008 cycling season, taking a bronze in the 10km scratch event at the track World Champs in Manchester, became Australian national points race champion and finishing second overall in the Jayco Bay Criterium Series. Belinda joined the team in Mt Hood and honored us with a podium finish in San Jose May 26.

Age: 19
Hometown: Brookby
Interests Beyond Pedaling:
Fishing, coffee, hiking with her dog, riding motorbikes
(no pedaling required), chilling around a bonfire, reading,
mooning people; listening to George Thoroughgood, Bob Marley
and Johny Cash; and hanging out with family. She has applied
to study psychology at Harvard University.
Career Highlights:
Malindi has a passion for sprinting. She is New Zealand’s
current National Criterium Champion and was a two-time Junior
World Track Champion and Oceana Track Champion. Her dream
destinations are Zimbabwe (before the political unrest),
or Venice, Italy.

Emma Petersen
Age: 18
Hometowns: Parawera (close to Te Awamutu) Waikato region
Interests Beyond Pedaling:
Working towards her Bachelors of Science degree at Massey
University, time at the beach and helping out on the farm.
Career Highlights:
National Road and Time Trial Champion. Oceania Road and
Time Trial Champion, National Criterium Champion. Hopes
to be selected for the 2008 Junior World Championships in
Cape Town South Africa.

Alison Shanks
Age: 24
Hometown: Dunedin Interests
Beyond Pedaling: Basketball, netball, cooking,
finding good coffee shops, and eating her mom’s great
food; “She’s always telling me I should read
more.” Alison’s musical tastes include a mixture
of 60’s and 70’s music, and Neil Diamond.
Career Highlights: With just
three years of road and track racing experience under her
belt, Alison has held her own in competitions with some
of the world’s best. She has been selected to represent
New Zealand in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, competing
in Individual Pursuits -- a category where she currently
holds New Zealand’s record time for women.

Susy Pryde –
Director
Age: 34
Hometowns: Waipukurau and Auckland Interests
Beyond Pedaling: Playing games with her royal silliness
‘Abbie,’ the family Jack Russell; all films
directed by Jim Jarmusch; swimming, running; relaxing at
Bayly’s Beach in Northland, New Zealand; riding the
Vespa, and playing the karaoke video game SingStar. Her
favorite music includes tunes by The Smiths, New Order,
The Cocteau Twins, The Clash, The Shins, Petula Clarke,
Al Green, Kings of Leon, The New York Dolls, and My Bloody
Valentine.
Career Highlights:
After a 13-year professional racing career with more than
500 podium finishes, Susy’s energy now goes toward
developing the Jazz™ Apple Team into a full-fledged
professional cycling squad. She also is completing a law
degree at the University of Auckland, along with a bachelor’s
of arts in film and television studies.
