MEET THE RIDERS

Dotsie Bausch
Age: 36
Current Residence: Irvine, CA
Cycling Strengths: Climbing, time trials, all-around

One of the best climbers and time trialists in the women’s peloton, Dotsie grew up in Louisville, KY and rode saddle-bred horses in competitions throughout the U.S.  After a stint as a model following graduation from Villanova University, Dotsie started cycling when a friend suggested she complete the California AIDS Ride – a nearly 600-mile bicycling fundraising adventure from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Dotsie enjoyed the hours she spent on her bike so much that she decided to try racing.

Dotsie has an impressive list of podium appearances under her belt, capped off by a bronze medal in the time trial at the 2007 Pan American Championships and a berth on the U.S. National Team where she won two national titles on the velodrome. Off the bike, Dotsie is an advocate for women with eating disorders and makes speeches and appearances all over the world to help raise awareness and identify solutions.

Age 31
Current Residence: Townsville, Australia
Cycling Strengths: Climbing, and developing into a strong all-around competitor

Ruth had a breakout season in 2008 with the JAZZ™ Apple Cycling team, claiming numerous podium finishes at major international meets. Ruth is a qualified sports massage therapist and juggles motherhood of her two very active daughters, Stephanie (6) and Caitlin (4).

Ruth Corset

Marina Duvnjak
Age: 28
Current Residence: New Zealand
Cycling Strengths: Velodrome and sprinting

Marina has been a competitive cyclist for 13 years. She was born in Croatia and moved to New Zealand with her family in 1993. She competed in multiple sports as a child, including karate, swimming, netball, and hockey, but when she tried cycling as a 14-year-old there was no turning back. While still in high school she won every national title in both individual and team events, and cycling continues to be her passion.

Marina Duvnjak

Lauren Ellis
Age 20
Current Residence: Ashburton, NZ
Cycling Strengths: Trusted and reliable all-rounder

Lauren is currently completing a sports and fitness degree at the University of Canterbury. Hailing from Hines, a small town on the Canterbury plains, Lauren showed a penchant for cycling after jumping on a bike to commute. Once she joined the local club, Lauren purchased a track bike and trained on the road and in the local club races on her basic track machine. Lauren is famously known for starting behind the local club members and chasing down the forerunners on her fixed wheel. This proved to be integral in her early training, as Lauren went on to medal twice at the Junior World Cycling championships, earning a silver medal in Individual pursuits in 2006, and a bronze in 2007. She served handily as a lead out person for Ruth Corset throughout the 2008 JAZZ™ Apple campaign.

Lauren  Ellis

Rosara Joseph
Age 26
Current Residence: Oxford, UK (Hometown: Christchurch,
New Zealand)
Cycling Strengths: Climbing

Rosara rode for the JAZZ™ Apple Cycling team in 2006 and is keen to return to the fold for the major part of the road-racing program for 2009. Along with her gifted ability, both on the mountain bike and the road bike, Rosara has deft cranium power as a current Rhode’s Scholar completing post-graduate studies in public law. Rosara turned her mind to mountain biking after impressing in a hometown triathlon in Christchurch. Her rise to international success was equally impressive, earning a Commonwealth Games silver medal only 18 months into the sport.

Rosara Joseph

Malindi Maclean
Age 21
Current Residence: Auckland, New Zealand
Cycling Strengths: Sprinting

Malindi joins the JAZZ™ Apple team for her third consecutive year. She is a committed and valuable member of the team who saw podium finishes in 2007 in North America, and who contributed solidly in 2008. This year, Malindi’s focus is on climbing the podium once again wearing the sporty new JAZZ™ Apple cycling jersey. Malindi was a two-time Junior World Track Champion and Oceana Track Champion.

Malindi  Maclean

Steph Roorda
Age 21
Current Residence: Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Cycling Strengths: All around ability and development potential

Steph is a relative newcomer to the sport but shows an even-tempered and likeable approach to her racing. Her raw talent and brute strength has seen her achieve quickly over the last 12 months as she became a Canadian National Champion in two events, in the scratch race and team pursuits.

Steph Roorda

Susy Pryde
Age 35
Current Residence: Auckland, New Zealand
Cycling Strengths: Coaching and all around ability

Susy fills the unique role of directing and mentoring the JAZZ™ Apple squad with a ‘hands on’ approach; she races alongside her protégés and provides in depth feedback and analysis to help them improve. Susy also motivates, tutors, encourages and oversees academic pursuits of the younger athletes during the JAZZ™ Apple cycling campaign.

In 2009, Susy will be entering her final year at the Law School at the University of Auckland to complete her LLB.

Career Highlights:
Formerly, Susy was a professional cyclist for 10 years with teams including: Saeco-Timex, Saturn, Auto-Trader.com and Specialized. Susy achieved more than 300 podium finishes during that time.
